ideal base for exploring newbury's parks and landmarks

I truly enjoyed my time exploring Newbury, with the West Berkshire Golf Club and picturesque Welford Park both just a short distance away, making it easy to soak in the lovely surroundings during my city strolls.

i was really disapointed after staying here. room was freezing, even for me, and i couldn’t relax due to the chilly draught at breakfast. it would’ve been nice if a special gesture had been offered for my troubles. i almost thought about giving a good review, but i just couldn’t. do better next time, five bells.

the menu had lots of great options that everyone enjoyed together. the shower goes cold quickly.

I loved the lovely massive beer garden which offered a spacious and serene outdoor area. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, making my visit enjoyable. My room was spotless and well presented, making for a comfortable and pleasant stay.

Sound insulation could be improved, as I could hear some noise from neighboring rooms.

The room was cozy, and we had an amazing dinner with fantastic drinks after a long day. It was nice to unwind in the lovely garden and take in the fresh air. Just a heads up, you can hear some noise from other rooms, but it didn’t spoil our stay. 😊

pleasant stay with some room for improvement

The property has a charming character, with well-decorated rooms that blend modern amenities and original features. I appreciated the private entrance to our room, ensuring a peaceful retreat away from the pub's hustle. Staff were notably friendly and eager to assist, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The breakfast menu offered a delightful variety, including standout dishes that catered to different tastes, making it a great way to start the day.

Although the atmosphere was pleasant, there was a noticeable lack of sound insulation between the rooms.

Had a lovely two nights in a charming room, complete with a useful ceiling fan. The outdoor facilities and the delightful brewery beer were a nice cherry on top of my stay!

The shower turned into an ice bath faster than my ex during winter! And don't expect much room to dance with the en-suite. it's a bit of a squeeze.

We had a great time catching up over pints. Checked out the Watermill Theatre and West Berkshire Museum, both worth a visit. The countryside walks nearby were a delightful bonus, and the locals made us feel right at home. Make sure to enjoy the food. their Sunday lunch roast is fantastic!
